VISX/AMO CustomVue

VISX is a leader in the creation of corrective eye surgery lasers, and developed the laser vision correction technology called CustomVue. This procedure improves nearsightedness and farsightedness, as well as astigmatism. The treatment uses their patented WaveScan wavefront mapping which delivers extremely personalized and high resolution correction.

Some of the technological features that are part of the VISX custom LASIK experience are:

  • ActiveTrak Automatic Centering – This locates and sets treatment to the very center of the pupil
  • ActiveTrak 3-D Active Eye Tracking – Your eye movements are caught in all three dimensions without the need for eye dilation
  • Variable Repetition Rate (VRR) – treatment time is optimized with varying rates of repetition
  • Variable Spot Scanning (VSS) – The treatment area is scanned with variable beam sizes, which conserves corneal tissue and optimizes treatment time

CustomVue laser vision correction has achieved the following:

  • 92 percent of those who have undergone CustomVue treatment can pass a driving test without glasses or contacts after one year
  • Nearly 72 percent of CustomVue treatment patients have 20/20 vision after one year
  • Night vision after CustomVue is much better than prior with glasses or contacts

How CustomVue Works

  • WaveScan measurements taken during your consultation map each eye and indicate whether or not you are a candidate for laser vision correction
  • The tracking and guidance system uses the data collected with the WaveScan measurements and directs the excimer laser during the actual surgery
