The Schulze Eye Center has its roots in the practice started about 40 years ago by Dr. Richard Schulze, Sr., who retired in April, 2010. Dr. Richard Schulze, Jr. joined his father's practice in 1995. In 1996, they opened the Schulze Surgery Center, the first outpatient surgery center devoted solely to eye surgery in the Coastal Empire or the Low Country. Dr. Schulze has performed thousands of successful operations for patients with cataracts, glaucoma, corneal transplants, and refractive surgery such as LASIK, PRK, CK, and the ICL (implantable contact lens).
