The John A. Moran Eye Center was designed and built based on input from focus groups consisting of individuals with varying levels of sight abilities. More than 50 physicians and optometrists make up the Moran Eye Center, including what many consider one of the premier retinal research groups in the world. Moran researchers and physicians consistently conduct 50 active clinical trials. These studies involve more than 2,700 clinical visits each year. The Moran Eye Center's annual grants for research, awarded by the National Institutes of Health exceed $10 million in 2010, placing it among some of the top research teams in the nation for NIH grants.
