The Fishkind, Bakewell & Maltzman Eye Care and Surgery Center is located in Tucson, Arizona. The physicians and staff create a welcoming and professional atmosphere for eye car. The Fishkind, Bakewell & Maltzman Eye Care and Surgery Center offers regular seminars on a wide variety of eye care topics. They are one-hour physician presentations with question-and-answer sessions. You can learn about eye diseases, vision problems, and the latest treatment approaches and technology.

William J. Fishkind, M.D., FACS Dr. Fishkind is the Director of the Fishkind, Bakewell & Maltzman Eye Care and Surgery Center in Tucson, Arizona. He is also a clinical professor at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City and a Clinical Instructor at the University of Arizona. He is board-certified in both ophthalmology and internal medicine and he has been honored as one of America’s Top Physicians. For the past five years, he has been among Tucson’s Best 100 Doctors. As a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, he serves on both the program committee and government relations committee; and as a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, he serves on both the skills transfer advisory committee and the program committee. As an instructing guest surgeon, he has traveled throughout the U.S. and about eight other countries in Europe and Asia, lecturing at universities and giving scientific presentations. |
Brock K. Bakewell, M.D., FACS Dr. Bakewell is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and a member of both the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the Arizona Ophthalmological Society. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Utah. He specializes in refractive surgery, treatment of corneal diseases, and small-incision cataract surgery. At the University of Utah School of Medicine in Salt Lake City, Dr. Bakewell completed extensive training in corneal and glaucoma disease treatment and has been part of research projects on small-incision cataract surgery and intraocular lenses. |
Jeff S. Maltzman, M.D., FACS Dr. Maltzman specializes in the medical and surgical management of glaucoma and in small-incision cataract surgery. He is the President Elect of the Arizona Ophthalmological Society. Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, he serves on several of its committees. He is also a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and belongs to two Glaucoma Societies. |
Richard Lewis, M.D. Dr. Lewis specializes in medical ophthalmology and is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He has worked in Afghanistan with a private organization, practicing general medicine among refugees and helped to establish one of Afghanistan’s first community development programs. He returned a second time to that country and, for eight years, served as the Medical Director of Afghanistan’s national eye program. He trained Afghan doctors and treated patients at Kabul’s University Eye Hospital. |
Stewart G. Mecom, O.D. Dr. Mecom has specialized in primary eye care since 1984 and is board-certified in the treatment and management of ocular diseases. Part of his training was done at the March Air Force Base in Riverside, California and he has also worked at the Phoenix Indian Hospital in Phoenix. He is a member of the American Optometric Association, the Arizona Optometric Association, and the Southern Arizona Optometric Society. |
