Eye Surgical Associates has been serving the ophthalmology needs of the Lincoln, Nebraska community since 1940. It is the oldest and largest ophthalmology practice in the region. While it has expanded considerably since the 1940s, Eye Surgical Associates has always stayed true to its family roots, and today, the son and grandson of founding ophthalmologist Dr. Maynard Wood continue to help keep the practice on the forefront of modern ophthalmology care.

Dr. Maynard Wood started the practice in 1940. At the time, he was the first residency-trained ophthalmologist to practice in Lincoln. His son, Dr. Larry Wood, joined the practice in 1973. In 1979, Dr. Max Linder came on board, and the practice was renamed Eye Surgical Associates.

By 1989, Eye Surgical Associates had added several other ophthalmologists to the team and merged with Sutton Skin and Eye. Dr. Maynard Wood retired in 1990 after 50 years of serving the Lincoln community, and in 1994, Eye Surgical Associates moved into its brand new 17,500 square foot facility adjoining the Lincoln Surgical Center. The practice is still located in this facility today.

In 1999 and 2000, the practice expanded again, adding Dr. Kaylyn Jackman and Dr. Thomas Graul, who moved from Wisconsin. When Dr. Matthew Wood came on board in 2004, it marked the third generation of the Wood family to carry the mantle.

Eye Surgical Associates takes pride in providing comprehensive surgical and consultative management of medical and surgical eye diseases. We also offer the most advanced refractive surgery procedures for treatment of common vision disorders such as myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism.
