Bausch & Lomb Zyoptix

The Zyoptix system was first used in Europe before the Food and Drug Administration approved its use in the United States. The system has been used in hundreds of thousands of procedures.

Zyoptix is set apart from other laser vision systems in that it corrects individual irregularities and flaws in each eye. Zyoptix works on myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism and is able to read thousands of points of data to create a 3-D map of the eye, much like wavefront-guided technology. Imperfections in the eye are extremely small, but each one scatters light that enters the eye. The patterns formed by the scattering of light are called aberrations. The Zyoptix system allows your eye surgeon to measure these aberrations and plan the treatment to fix these errors.

Candidates for Zyoptix include:

  • Age 21 or older
  • Stable vision for at least a year
  • Healthy eyes and good general health

As with other laser vision correction procedures, the surgery will only take minutes and you should notice improvement in your sight in as little as one to two hours.

Studies have shown that virtually 100% of Zyoptix patients have uncorrected 20/40 vision or better six months after surgery. Over 90% of these patients have 20/20 vision six months after their Zyoptix procedure, and just over 70% were reported to have better than 20/20 vision. Over 80% of Zyoptix patients reported improvement in their night vision and fewer difficulties when driving at night.

Deciding on a laser vision correction treatment is an important step toward improved sight. If you are interested in finding out more about the Bausch & Lomb Zyoptix system for laser vision correction, please contact an experienced ophthalmologist in your area for an initial consultation.
